Choosing a single or double vanity
A single vanity can provide a comfortable sink area while leaving room for a linen cabinet, hamper or more open floor space. Double vanities suit bathrooms shared by two people, but a second sink is only useful when the overall width supports comfortable access. Consider counter space between the bowls, the position of mirrors and lighting, and whether both people can stand at the cabinet without blocking the doorway. Bigger is not automatically better in a narrow bathroom.
If you are changing from one sink to two, plumbing work needs to be reviewed separately with the appropriate professional. Keeping the existing sink location may simplify part of the project, although the new cabinet still needs to accommodate the supply lines and drain. Ask about available widths and drawer configurations rather than selecting a style from a photograph alone. For a small powder room, a properly proportioned single vanity can feel more intentional than an oversized unit squeezed into the wall opening.
